Professional Bio

Sofia was born and raised in Southern California to a Pakistani father and Mexican mother. She attended Mt. San Antonio College before transferring to UCLA where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Gender Studies. She also studied International Business abroad for a summer at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). In 2018, she graduated from the Riordan MBA Fellows Program at UCLA Anderson School of Management and the Forte MBALaunch Program.

Currently, she is supporting the Friends & Family Program at Slauson & Co., she is a Fellow at Included VC, a Global VC Fellowship, and Founder and CEO of Muslim Women Professionals (MWP), the fastest growing organization for Muslim women. She is also a member of Women in VC and VCFamilia. Previously, Haq was the Senior Program & Community Manager at XRC Ventures, a venture fund and accelerator, a part of Republic’s Venture Associate Program, Ambassador at the United State of Women (USOW), and was one of only 17 chosen from a pool of over 200 entrepreneurs to participate in the Grid110 Program in their Idea to Product cohort.

Sofia lies at the intersectionality of many identities which inspires her to bring awareness to issues including: diversity and inclusion and gender equity. She has written for outlets like Forbes, featured on multiple podcasts, interviewed for various publications, and is a frequent panelist at events centered around women empowerment. Her mission is to foster unity amongst Muslim women and women of color, bring awareness to the struggles of diverse communities, and create resources to help them thrive.

Recently, Sofia was named one of the Top 50 Most Influential Muslims (2023) by Equality X. Haq is also the recipient of the Unsung Hero Award from Female Founders Alliance, an award given to business leaders that have worked tirelessly in the shadows to provide meaningful support to underrepresented communities.
