Sofia’s Full Bio

Sofia was born and raised in Southern California to a Pakistani father and Mexican mother. She attended Mt. San Antonio College before transferring to UCLA where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Gender Studies. She also studied International Business abroad for a summer at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). In 2018, she graduated from the Riordan MBA Fellows Program at UCLA Anderson School of Management and the Forte MBALaunch Program.

Haq is the Founder & CEO of Muslim Women Professionals (MWP), the fastest growing organization for Muslim women, Senior Program Manager at Slauson & Co., and on the Inicio Ventures AngelPath Alumni Advisory Council. She is also a public speaker on issues pertaining to gender equity, the Muslim community, and venture capital.

Previously, she was a part of the Inicio Ventures AngelPath Academy, a Summer Investment Associate at VamosVentures, and Senior Program & Community Manager at XRC Ventures. She was one of only 17 chosen from a pool of over 200 entrepreneurs to participate in the Grid110 Program in their Idea to Product cohort. She is also an alumni of the Included VC Fellowship.

She lies at the intersectionality of many identities which inspires her to bring awareness to issues including: diversity and inclusion and gender equity. She has written for outlets like Forbes, featured on multiple podcasts, interviewed for various publications, and is a frequent panelist at events centered around women empowerment. Her mission is to foster unity amongst Muslim women and women of color, bring awareness to the struggles of diverse communities, and create resources to help them thrive.

She was named one of the Top 50 Most Influential Muslims in both 2023 and 2024 by Equality X. She received the MuslimARC Social Justice Connector Award. She is also the recipient of the Unsung Hero Award, given to leaders that provide meaningful support to communities.
